A New Portrait Project

Over the past year I have been quietly developing a new creative project that explores childhood through storytelling and portraiture.

This project is called The Daughters Series.

The series is inspired by the small worlds children create through imagination. The stories they invent, the objects they treasure, and the quiet moments where creativity begins to take shape.

Each portrait will focus on a girl connected to a particular theme such as craft, nature, storytelling, or memory. These portraits are designed to feel thoughtful, timeless, and deeply expressive.

Rather than traditional portraits, each image becomes part of a larger story.

The First Chapter: Daughters of Craft

The first chapter of this series is Daughters of Craft.

This collection explores the idea of young girls discovering creativity through making things with their hands. Sewing, painting, writing, building, drawing, and creating small worlds from simple materials.

These portraits celebrate the curiosity and creativity that often begin in childhood and grow into lifelong passions.

Each image is carefully planned with wardrobe, props, and lighting that reflect the craft or skill being explored.

Future Chapters

The Daughters Series will grow slowly over time and will include several themed collections.

Future chapters may include:

Daughters of Nature

Daughters of Story

Daughters of Memory

Each chapter explores a different aspect of childhood imagination and discovery.

Only a small number of portraits will be created for each collection.

Why This Project Matters

Childhood passes quickly, but the imagination of children is something extraordinary.

Through these portraits I hope to create images that feel timeless. Portraits that celebrate curiosity, creativity, and the quiet strength of young girls discovering their place in the world.

This project is also deeply personal to me as a photographer and as a mother. It reflects the moments where creativity first begins to shape who we become.

Limited Participation

Because each portrait is carefully designed, only a small number of children will participate in this project each year.

Families who are interested in the Daughters Series will have the opportunity to learn about upcoming portrait opportunities before they are announced publicly.
